2007 E64 630i, N52 engine, brief lack of power

630i petrol with N52 engine - Does anybody have any ideas on this intermittent problem:

The engine sometimes loses power for a brief period of time. The issue is intermittent and usually manifests itself at the following period. I slow down (or halt) at a crossroads after a period of typical driving at a constant or variable pace. When it is safe to go, I strive to accelerate. The automobile reacts properly (for a split second or less) before abruptly losing all power. This just lasts a second or so until the power is restored and everything returns to normal. I'm not sure whether it's an engine problem (likely) or a gearbox issue (a late choice to change gear) - any thoughts?

If it only occurs while under load/pulling away, may it be a traction control fault? Thinks traction has been lost, so turns off power, then imagines traction has been recovered and everything is back to normal?

Could be gearbox software - why not reset the throttle and start over?

Both are excellent options. Obviously, I'm not going to deal with them myself, but it's useful to know what may be the issue while speaking with the garage. I'm guessing'resetting the throttle' isn't a job for me, either!

Only if you have no feet and are unable to read!!

Search the thread, but from recollection, you need the ignition turned on but the engine turned off, the gas pedal to the floor, and hold for around 40 seconds until a slight click is heard (and it is really faint, so go someplace quiet!). Turn off the ignition, start the vehicle, and drive as you normally would............

I doubt it would help, but it's free and easy to do!!

Does it also do that in sport mode?

I remember some folks receiving a software update that resolved this issue.

In the end, what was the problem? This sounds precisely like the problem I'm encountering.

This is a known problem; a software update may be necessary depending on the car's integration level. Then a certain adaptation technique must be undertaken. If this does not work, you may have a slow Valvetronic motor.

I emailed the OP, and I'm looking for a response!

What exactly do you mean by "integration level"? What is the technique for adaptation?

Thank you for responding; I'm almost desperate right now!

As you are undoubtedly aware, BMW software upgrades all have integration levels so that the dealer can detect what programming level the car is programmed with by reading the key data (an easy method to verify). The adaptation method once the code is changed is fairly lengthy, but it must be performed exactly to attempt to correct the problem.

What exactly is the adapting procedure?

I know a local indy that has autologic and can probably perform idrive and ecu upgrades.

What changes should I request from him now? Engine and transmission?

The OP contacted me:

He performed software upgrades, which greatly improved the situation.
