Hi,

As part of the alternator gasket repair on my 650i, I lowered the subframe. As seen in the image, the engine was supported from above. Before lowering the subframe, I raised it slightly. I replaced the subframe and figured the engine mounts would line up with the bracket. However, the bracket / engine is roughly 1/2 the width of the bolt behind (towards the cabin) the stud on the mount. This applies to both sides. It seems like the engine has shifted back little while on the support. Is it conceivable that I slightly twisted the studs out of place in any way?

Is there a way to get them to queue, please? Can I lower the subframe a little bit on the bolts, then lower the engine till they line up, then lift everything back up? Can you guide the engine into position?

I'm at a lost and don't want to attempt anything without expert counsel since I'm afraid of inflicting major harm.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Because the engine is simply supported by a cross brace rather than being kept in place, it will only move slightly.
Usually, I lower the engine till the mount bracket is level with the stud, then I grasp the engine and jiggle it into position.

If you have a crane, you may lower the engine slightly and attach the frame to it before anchoring it to the vehicle if that is more convenient for you.

It seems that the engine support beam may have also raised the engine slightly rearward at the same time.
Maybe you can pull the engine forward by tapping the foot of the engine support on each side.
If it doesn't work, you may be able to pull the engine or gearbox forward by grabbing a hefty section of it.

That's exactly what I was thinking. It's probably worth a shot to tap the engine support's feet. Not sure where to pry it open?
