The other day, I saw that the miles till my next service were rapidly decreasing; upon further examination, it was showing 210 millilitres until my brake pads require replacing.I took it in for a checkup at BMW not long ago, and they said everything was fine.I've tried disengaging the handbrake and resetting it, but it keeps saying it was failed.Any recommendations?

Does it appear to be the front or back pads? If they are in good condition, it's likely due to a damaged sensor.

So, it's the back brakes...

The pad sensors are located on the inner, less visible pad, specifically at NSF and OSR.
It could be beneficial to remove the wheel and inspect them once again for improved visibility.

To avoid removing the incorrect wheel, I was going to enquire about it, so thank you.Is it OK to utilise the brake pad sensors I found on eBay, or should I invest in authentic ones?

While I was checking my partner's 1 series, I noticed that the rears were worn down to approximately 4mm, but the wear sensor had already been worn through. Appearances to deflate rapidly after use.

I will need to buy a sensor till it's dry enough to remove the wheel.

It is unnecessary to replace the sensor when the brake pads are 4mm or smaller. While it's generally acceptable during a health check, there are instances where the sensor comes close to touching the disc.

The brake pads were found to be 8 mm in the front and back during the health check.

I believe I installed some from Amazon onto our previous E90 without any issues.
Also, make sure you do the pads.
