Greetings everyone,

The lower DRLs and the apertures for the headlight washer jets were recently removed from my 2013 W218 CLS350 after I installed a facelift front bumper.


I gather that in order to deactivate the lower bumper DRLs and headlight washers, the vehicle must now undergo reprogramming via DTS Monaco. The DRLs are currently triggering a dashboard alert, and I'd also like to prevent the washer jets from attempting to deploy.

I am available to travel from my base in Kent if necessary. Is there a professional or business that can do this coding?

This should be quite easy to fix, since certain European facelift vehicles came equipped with LED headlights that were from before the facelift. You will find attached images and a video link to the aforementioned European models.

I would greatly appreciate any advice or assistance you could provide.

If your vehicle has zenon or LED headlights, you may not be able to code out the washers. These lights are obligatory and are also required to pass the MOT.

Hello, I appreciate your feedback. Only Xenon headlights, not LED headlights, are required to have washers.

Although not technically necessary for all LED headlights in a MOT, headlight washers are a must if the LED system (most especially the dipped beams) generates more than 2,000 lumens.
One issue you may encounter is that in order to pass the test, the washers that were originally installed by the manufacturer, known as original equipment (OE), must be present and in proper working order. Assuming your tester is unaware that it should have them, you could be good to go.

Finding someone with Star Diagnostics should be quite easy; I've done this before for clients who have had their R230 SLs facelifted.

Alright, I was informed that DTS Monaco was required. Unfortunately, I did try a Mercedes expert who tried to accomplish it with Xentry, but it was unsuccessful.
