No error code when my fan malfunctioned.

Several years ago, my device ceased functioning due to a malfunctioning fan.
I am uncertain how to do a test, since I lack expertise in electronics; I just acquired a second-hand fan, and it functioned properly once again.

Consider attempting it with the mass airflow sensor disconnected.

It seems that you and Bigdrew are accurate; Artico and MB-Tex are two distinct materials. Regrettably, the upholstery on my 2018 E-Class W213 seems to be Artico.

Indeed, it was also referred to as ARTICO, if my recollection is accurate. Presented persistent issues mostly in MB W212 models. Potentially further models as well.
