The vehicle in question, a 2012 A7 with a mileage of 92,xxx, has recently shown a new behaviour wherein it consumes around half a quart of oil over a span of a few days. Reluctantly, the vehicle was brought to an authorised dealer who posited that the issue may be attributed to the accumulation of carbon deposits inside the pistons and rings. In an attempt to address the issue of consumption, the individuals used the BG -EPR Engine Pro Restoration procedure. According to their statement, the oil that had been there for less than 50 days had a jet black colour, indicating that BG was functioning as intended. After the treatment was administered, I proceeded to drive the vehicle for a distance of no more than 20 miles. It is worth noting that during this short period, I saw a noticeable decrease in the oil gauge reading.
Does anybody have any opinions or suggestions on the further actions to be taken? What is the purpose of the PCV/oil separator? Is it possible to exchange it for a different one?

I am interested in understanding the rationale behind your assertion on Valpo. Do you encounter similar challenges?

The Power Control Valve (PCV) is a frequently seen component that is prone to malfunction on the C7 A7. In instances of malfunction, an increase in pressure inside the crankcase may occur, resulting in the displacement of oil beyond the seals or gaskets and into the combustion chambers. Consequently, the oil becomes subject to burning. Upon replacing the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve at about 75,000 miles, a noticeable reduction of oil consumption was seen. Specifically, the oil consumption rate decreased from 1 quart per 5,000 miles to around 1/2 quart per 10,000 miles. The price of the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) component is reasonably affordable. However, its installation necessitates the removal of the supercharger, which may be time-consuming and may need professional labour if one has the necessary expertise. In the event that the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system is being serviced, it is advisable to concurrently repair the thermostat and water pump. These components are prone to failure and need the removal of the supercharger. In addition, it is possible to do walnut blasting on the intake valves while the supercharger is removed, a process that may be facilitated by removing the head. This procedure effectively addresses any carbon-related concerns. However, it remains unclear how carbon accumulation specifically affects oil usage, since it may have implications for other aspects of the system.
Additional factors that may contribute to oil consumption include the presence of faulty piston rings or inadequate seals and gaskets. However, instances of such failures on these vehicles are few, and if this is really the problem, it would need a far more involved repair process including the disassembly of the engine.
whether all other components are functioning well and the individual expresses satisfaction with the vehicle, it is recommended to do a Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system inspection to see whether it resolves the issue at hand. If that is not the case, maybe you are interested in engaging in a transaction.
It is often observed that vehicles with high mileage tend to exhibit a certain degree of oil consumption, which may be considered within the range of normalcy. However, the quantity you are referring to is considerable. From my perspective, I would not object to the inclusion of one quart of oil between scheduled oil changes.

I employ a little amount of oil, however not to the same degree as you do. On average, the first quart of fuel allows for a range of around 4,000 to 5,000 miles, with a further increase in mileage seen thereafter. The precise reason for this phenomenon remains unclear. The act of applying pressure to the accelerator pedal with my right foot is accompanied by the combustion of oil in my vehicle's engine. The current mileage of my vehicle is 230,500 miles, and based on the information I have gathered, it is widely suggested that replacing the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve may significantly decrease or even eliminate oil consumption. In regard to my vehicle's mileage, I must admit that I have adopted a rather lax attitude towards maintenance. Currently, I lack the immediate need for it, which therefore diminishes my motivation to eliminate the source of cognitive dissonance and engage in the task at hand. The new PCV is now in its original packaging, placed on the work bench. However, my current level of motivation is insufficient to begin the process of replacing it at this time.

The cost for replacing a PCV seems to be rather high. I have little knowledge on the anticipated outcome.

The positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system is located under the supercharger, requiring a considerable amount of labour to extract and reinstall. According to the recommended procedure, the front portion of the vehicle must be disassembled, allowing the radiator core support to be shifted forward into a serviceable position. This additional step contributes to the overall duration of the task. It is advisable to replace both the thermostat and water pump simultaneously on a 2012 vehicle, since the supercharger has to be removed for the replacement of both components. In addition, there are many more consumable items that need financial compensation. It is probable that the coolant will be replaced, and the service provider intends to charge for both a coolant system cleaning and replacement.

The estimated value seems to be about accurate, if maybe somewhat inflated.
Upon examining the receipt, it is evident that a sum of $293 was allocated for the purchase of the PCV, but an additional amount of $916 was attributed to labour costs. In addition to the primary task of replacing the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV), the labour included supplementary procedures such as the replacement of the water pump ($226) and thermostat ($188), as well as the walnut blasting of the intake valves.
The majority of the labour involved in the process is removing and reinstalling the supercharger. Consequently, some individuals suggest addressing numerous tasks simultaneously while doing this procedure.

Therefore, It has been little more than a fortnight after the B&G oil treatment flush transaction. The rate of oil consumption seems to have ceased. To yet, I have not encountered the need to replace any components. While I may be tempting fate, it is necessary to provide an update to those of you who have offered valuable insights. I want to do an additional flush after covering a few hundred more kilometres in order to enhance the removal of corrosion.
