Today, I attempted to connect my X5 PHEV to a power source for charging purposes, but encountered an issue when the vehicle failed to initiate the charging process. The charging station displays the message "waiting EV." Both the BMW application and the vehicle itself indicate that the charging process is not taking place, and no error notice is being shown. The car's settings remain consistent, and it is expected to begin charging promptly. I have using this charging station on several occasions without encountering any difficulties, and I have attempted to utilise a few other charging stations with no success. It is necessary for me to take the vehicle to the authorised dealership in order to get it inspected.

Does anybody else have this problem?

Is it possible to charge a BMW vehicle at home or any other location using the charger supplied by BMW?

No, not at any point in time. It is advisable to only use the charging stations located inside my workplace or other publicly accessible areas.

I use these chargers on a near-daily basis during weekdays, and it is seen that other vehicles using the same chargers are functioning well. Up till now, I have used many charging stations without encountering this issue. This is the first occasion subsequent to my acquisition of the automobile in July of 2024.

Charging at home is not a viable option for me, since I rely on charging facilities available in different buildings across the town. I want to experiment with an alternative charger in the shopping centre later today. In the event that this endeavour proves unsuccessful, I will go to the dealership in order to solicit their assistance in diagnosing the issue.

The occurrence of a 'Waiting to EV' notification was seen while the vehicle had been configured to begin charging at a later time. Are you use the ChargeForward application?

Due to the absence of electrical outlets inside my condominium complex, the implementation of such a solution is not viable. Therefore, the whole of my charging activities is conducted at diverse charging stations located inside the buildings I often visit.

I make use of Chargepoint and Blink charging stations and use their respective applications.
