My vehicle is classified as A, thus service A costs £250 and service B costs £400. The website states that the primary distinction is that service B includes all of the features of service A plus additional inspections and an air filter, with no further variations. I spoke with 2 authorised Mercedes-Benz dealers who both confirmed that the number of inspections they do is same. Service B does not have a greater number of checks than Service A. Today, I had my service done and talked to the mechanic. He said that they do not differentiate between service types A or B. The technicians just focus on completing the necessary tasks, such as changing the oil and filter after every repair. They also inspect the air filter, gearbox fluid and brake fluid as needed. They said that they do a same degree of checks on all services, without distinction between service A and service B.
If I were to combine A service with an air filter, the total cost would have been £334 today. They charged £250 for the service and £84 for the air filter. If I were to pay for B for the exact same service, it would cost £400, and everything else would have been same, right? What is the purpose of B?

Had they performed B and replaced the air filter, the total cost would have been £484.

Is an air filter included in the B service? Is B service essentially equivalent to A service plus an air filter replacement? (motor oil with filter and air filter?)

Only oil and filter are included in the standard service for a Mercedes-Benz. The B service additionally includes a brake fluid change. All filters are replaced according on either mileage or time, whichever comes first.

Service B on certain models often involves replacing the pollen (cabin/dust) filter, but does not usually include changing the air filter.

I believe you received extra complimentary checks while scheduling the automobile service for Service A.
For example, you scheduled a Service A for your automobile, but the dealer performed a Service B and only billed you for a Service A.
Are you still complaining? I'm curious about what you say to the server at a restaurant when they deliver free bread and butter to the table...

Brake fluid replacement and B service are both required every two years for automobiles that are serviced yearly. Cars that are repaired more often than once a year owing to excessive mileage might fall out of sync.

Neither do I. From my experience, a B service has consistently included an A plus pollen filter for many years. Air and fuel filters, spark plugs, ATF, etc., are often considered additional maintenance items that need to be replaced at certain intervals, usually in conjunction with a B service.

Some dealers only do a Service B check, regardless of whether the buyer paid for a Service A or Service B.
