Greetings, gentlemen.
The glow plug warning light has illuminated on my dashboard and remains on when driving.
Could someone provide an estimate on the cost of replacing these components, including both parts and labour?
I suppose it would be necessary to replace all four.
What is the normal duration of their lifespan?
The make and model of my car is a 2007 CLK w209 CDi220.
Any comments or suggestions is appreciated.
I much appreciate your assistance.

The cost for the 4 plugs and an hour of labour may be £60. It is advisable to replace all of them if they are many years old. They are expected to have a lifespan of many years.

I just purchased NGK glow plugs at a cost of £11.00 per unit. Replacing all four increases the likelihood of shearing one, since they are just 10mm in size. I successfully completed task number 4 without encountering any difficulties. I now own an additional item in my inventory to replace any potential failures.

Do the plugs have numbers assigned to them? Should I get the components from a supplier such as Euro Car components?

I estimate that they are around 3 to 4 years old.

I purchased mine from a nearby GSF store. In order to determine which component has malfunctioned, it is necessary to use a scan tool. The worst-case scenario is that the light plug relay has malfunctioned, and replacing it may be costly.

Please note that on my previous CLK, the malfunctioning component was the relay responsible for the glow plugs.

Simply substitute the inferior one. They may be compared to bulbs, since they either function or they don't. However, some of them have the potential to last for many years. I replaced one around four years ago.... I just replaced another only a few months ago. To ensure a lower risk of breakage, it is important to make sure that the engine is sufficiently heated before removing it during the do-it-yourself process.
To determine a faulty glow plug, just use a multimeter set to measure resistance (ohms) and connect it between the tip of the glow plug and the nearby cylinder head. A functioning glow plug should have a resistance of around 2 ohms, whereas a faulty one often reads around 50 to 60 ohms.

Additionally, replace all components except for the relay. However, ensure that the relay is an authentic Mercedes-Benz part and not a low-quality imitation.
