The car was delivered and I finally had the opportunity to drive it. I own an F-type, which has a distinct gearbox. Additionally, I have experience driving various vehicles with paddle shifters, including the 458, 488, GT3, and Huracan. Therefore, I have a question since I lack prior experience in driving R8's. When I manually change gears in dynamic and/or performance mode, the vehicle experiences a sudden forward movement during downshifts, particularly when shifting into second and first speeds. Is this considered typical or within the expected range of behaviour? The vehicle exhibits much improved smoothness in automatic mode. However, I am curious whether there are any specific components or systems that need inspection or maintenance. While several of the other automobiles were not driven in manual mode, none of them exhibited the same behaviour.
Furthermore, the vehicle was equipped with aftermarket shift paddle extenders, and when attempting to remove them, I accidentally detached the rear portion of the downshift paddle. Clearly, they were affixed using adhesive. The paddle is malfunctioning, and I plan to reach out to my nearby dealer. However, I am interested to know whether anybody has encountered the need to replace a paddle and what the process would include.
Thank you in advance

"When shifting gears manually, the car experiences sudden and forceful movements during downshifts, particularly when shifting into second and first gears." Is this considered typical or within the expected range of behaviour?"
Subjectively, I do not perceive any abrupt forward movement when I manually change down into second or first gear.
It is imperative that it refrains from doing so.
The downshift of our gearbox, which involves rev-matching, is characterised by its sharpness, speed, and cleanliness.
We regret to hear about the difficulties you are facing, and unfortunately, we are unable to provide much assistance in this matter. However, we would like to extend our congratulations on your recent acquisition of a new automobile!

In my opinion, this is abnormal.
The texture is very velvety when consumed.
What is the make and model of your car? I am uncertain about the significance of this subject. Do all second-generation models use the same gearbox?

When the vehicle is in Dynamic/Performance mode, it may exhibit a sudden and jolting movement during downshifts. This occurs when the mode is not properly used or when the driver is utilising it incorrectly. Engaging the Performance mode is not intended for downshifting at low RPMs when coasting up to a stop light.
Exclude it from the Dynamic mode unless you are driving the vehicle aggressively, since it will forcefully downshift even while relaxed cruising. As you have seen, it moves down gently and seamlessly in the Auto/Comfort mode.

Thank you for your reply. I will remember it. I need to familiarise myself with the multi clutch gearbox, I guess.

I saw same conduct, even in a relaxed manner and without any physical intervention in the shifting process. When I drive the vehicle in a relaxed and comfortable manner, the automated downshifts do not significantly increase the RPMs. However, when I drive in a forceful manner when in the comfort mode, I see significant increases in the revolutions per minute (RPM) when the vehicle moves to a lower gear. The car's automated downshifting causing a sudden increase in RPMs seems unnatural and lacks complete logical coherence. This phenomenon also occurs when I release the accelerator and decelerate till coming to a complete halt. There is a sudden increase in the revolutions per minute (RPM) of the automobile's engine, causing the car to abruptly accelerate forward. Releasing the accelerator without using the brakes could lead one to expect that the automobile would smoothly change to a lower gear, but this is not the case.

I mostly drive using manual gearbox, and on rare occasions when I switch to automatic mode, I have encountered the abrupt movements that you mentioned. I own a 2017 model that was one of the first to be introduced in Canada. However, it exhibits a few peculiar characteristics similar to the one described.
I must emphasise that the automobile is most pleasurable when used in manual mode. The dual clutch has exceptional responsiveness. Furthermore, it might be said that operating the R8 below 4000rpm does not really constitute driving the vehicle. Experience the gearbox, expansive linear power range, and meticulously designed motor that is capable of sustaining 8500rpm for extended periods of time. Congratulations on your new automobile, I assure you that you will not have any regrets.
