Greetings, I just acquired a CX 90 PHEV. Regrettably, we have encountered an issue where the car is generating electrical interference in the circuit breaker panel, resulting in flickering of LED lights whenever we charge it with the provided level one charger. After thoroughly reviewing the boards, it seems that other individuals have encountered the same problem. However, I have not come across any viable remedies so far. I have enlisted the services of an electrician to inspect the panel, and he has confirmed that everything seems to be in proper working order and securely fastened. He replaced the breaker, but the buzzing persisted even with the new one. I have requested the power company to inspect the electrical service at our home, and they have confirmed that everything is functioning properly. In order to conduct a more thorough investigation, I invited a buddy who owns a Volvo electric car to my residence and allowed him to charge his vehicle there. Remarkably, the act of charging his Volvo did not result in any buzzing or flickering of the lights on my panel. Subsequently, I drove my Mazda vehicle to my friend's home and successfully triggered a buzzing breaker and flickering lights by using both my level one Mazda charger and his level two ChargePoint charger. He claimed to have never seen his lights flickering. After having the electrician thoroughly examine the situation and successfully reproducing the problem at another location, I am inclined to conclude that the Mazda vehicle is responsible for the electrical issues in my home. It is my conjecture that the car has a faulty onboard charger, or that the onboard charger is producing an excessive amount of noise or electromagnetic interference (EMI) that is being sent back into the system. I contacted the Mazda dealership, however, they informed me that they are not familiar with this problem and have not provided a resolution at this time. Does anybody in the community have any thoughts? The flickering lights are really bothersome, and I am apprehensive that the accompanying buzzing may pose a safety hazard or result in potential long-term harm to the equipment. Thank you.

I am seeing intermittent light flickering, mostly with gu10 based LEDs. There is no audible buzzing when I charge devices using a 120-volt power source. Anticipating the resolution of the issue upon reaching level 2.

I own an Emporia level 2 EV charger, which does the same function.

I have personally seen the same issue with my vehicle as well. It seems that the LED lighting in my basement, which are less expensive, are more prone to flickering. However, I noticed a strong buzzing sound coming from the circuit breaker, so I had my electrician examine it. Although all the necessary inspections were OK, I ultimately had to replace my electrical panel (upgrading it to a 200A service) in order to accommodate a future installation of a Level 2 Charger at my residence. However, even with the new panel and all new circuit breakers, there is still an audible buzzing sound when Level 1 charging is taking place. I have not yet attempted to address the issue of flickering at Level 2, as I have not yet made the decision to purchase a new Level 2 EVSE.

I am experiencing the same problem with my 2024 CX90 PHEV. There are audible vibrations emanating from some switches, the television upon activation, the microwave when its door is opened, and the breaker box. Additionally, there are lights in the basement that flicker intermittently when charging. I have spoken with my dealership, however, they have expressed no prior knowledge of the issue in question. I am now located in Canada. I will do an experiment by charging several automobiles using my level 2 charger to see whether the issue is with the car itself. It also performed the same thing with the cable that the vehicle arrived with. Today, my electrician informed me that the issue was with my automobile rather than my newly constructed home.

Revision: I let a friend with a Tesla to charge their vehicle using my Level 2 ChargePoint Charger at a current of 32A. Surprisingly, there was no audible buzzing noise in my home, which is often present when I charge my CX90. There was no flickering of my lights either. Subsequently, I visited his home where we encountered a same buzzing noise emanating from the electrical panel inside his premises.

Update 2: My sister, who owns a 2019 Nissan Leaf, used my level 2 charger to charge her vehicle without experiencing any buzzing sounds. My. There is also no flickering of lights in my basement. Evidently, the issue lies with my Mazda.

I corroborated the information using the same method as my buddy. Undoubtedly, it seems to be a Mazda-related issue. I have scheduled an appointment with the dealer for next week, in the hope that they will be able to resolve the issue.

I feel the same way. I saw flashing when using a Level 1 120VAC charger.

Despite the installation of a 48A Chargepoint Level 2 charger on a 60A circuit, the issue of flickering persists.

The automobile may be fully charged within 2 hours, which is frustrating. I intended to test the issue with another electric vehicle (EV) to see whether the problem persists, but this discussion has led me to conclude that the issue is likely inherent to the car itself.

I own a Canadian automobile with a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) that concludes with the digits 152xxx, in case this information is useful.
I will inform my supplier in order to ensure that the information is recorded in an official record.
