When deciding whether or not to make a major purchase, how much weight do you give to feedback and consumer reviews? You may find many TV, lawnmower, and vacuum cleaner assessments, as well as car evaluations, on the internet. You have to determine whether you will let these total strangers to influence your choice of brand or model.
The F-Type received a 5.5 out of a possible 6 star rating from its customers on average.

I seek out the unfavorable opinions of those who seem to know what they are talking about.

As I said in the essay, most people's concerns about the size/space or the lack of features they hoped were standard were really valid.

After a few years and tens of thousands of kilometers, a model's true dependability will become apparent. Look at how often automobiles from all manufacturers discover early wear or poorly designed components after in service times accumulate; factory testing is no substitute for real world experience. For instance, my 1999 Toyota Corolla's driver-side inside door handle has already been changed twice since, in my opinion, it was poorly designed and doesn't hold up to regular usage even after just 134k miles. If you are cautious not to damage the plastic pin that attaches the handle, each handle should survive for four to five years. So, I evaluate how well it serves my purposes, take note of any odd complaints, and hope for the best.
One of the finest lists of Smart car owner gripes I've seen reads: "Not enough room to haul a passenger and stuff at the same time." Of course...

That's so hilarious, it's not even funny.
Time will tell how the F-Type fares, and you're right about that.

TATA is on the right road if they can make the Jag as dependable as the new Land Rovers. The new Land Rovers have a good reputation for dependability.

To echo what Mike Phillips wrote, I find that reports of driven vehicles are the most informative to me. Because I learned to drive on a Sprite and then progressed to "big" sports cars like MGBs and TR4s, I can tell you without looking at the specifications if the vehicle is little or large. I can't tell much from a test drive, but the reviews will let me know if the car has a history of blowing head gaskets or having electrical problems. Sometimes I think magazine road testers are a little jaded, or spoiled, or trying to hard to be sophisticated and discerning, and it is good to hear what "regular enthusiasts" say about driving the car, but road tests usually give a pretty good idea of that. There is usually a sizable number of customer reviews available on MSN Autos and Cars.com.

The Jaguar is without question one of the most aesthetically pleasing vehicles currently in production.

Yes, and the brand-new XE is supposedly the greatest one yet.

One of the finest lists of Smart car owner gripes I've seen reads: "Not enough room to haul a passenger and stuff at the same time." Okay, I get it. That remark is priceless. An additional candidate for extinction:encouragement: Personally, I give the "F" type a ten for its design. In the same vein, I own a Lexus SC430 and rate its design as a perfect 10. Even though it's not brand new, my 2005 Lexus has, in my opinion, superior styling than the new Lexus. Anyway, off topic, the Jaguar brand is in good hands with Tata. I'm a big fan of the XJS design as well as the E-Type. I like to think of myself as a Bond Girl. (NOT)
