Approximately 1,000 SD1 body panels have been discovered in India, providing enough material to assemble 600 vehicles at the very least and as many as 1,000 vehicles with fresh components and panels alone. All the tooling and jigs for these are new.It turns out that SD1s were never sent to India fully assembled, but rather in kit form, to be put together once they arrived. These parts come from the factory that shut down and went into receivership 20 years ago, but was locked up until the current owners gained access to do inventory. All of the components are stored in crates, and the current owners are hoping to offload them all at once rather than one by one.I have his name and email address.I've studied every picture of the tools and fixtures. The proverbial SD1 golden goose may have been found.Though they only offer complete kits for the time being, everyone having SD1s should have a look at what's out there. Here is a rundown of the costs:
CIF to any UK port, £20,000 for 20 kits, plus £2,000 per kit
One hundred or more kits may be sent in a 40-foot container at a cost of 1,750 British pounds per............................................... for £1500.00 per setI haven't had any quotes for shipping to the US or Canada just yet.

Interesting.......It's likely that Rimmer or another comparable UK provider will purchase it all.

This reminds me of the WWII jeeps that were abandoned on a South Pacific island.

To be honest, I wasn't shocked to learn this. STAMPRO began manufacturing the automobile in India in 1981 (after purchasing the body tools from Rover) under the name Standard 2000. In a strange twist, the engine was a modified version of the classic wet-liner Standard Vanguard/Triumph TR design. It seems that this was a disastrously short-lived endeavor. Neat... And to think, only 20 years ago I was reading popular science and seeing commercials for surplus Mig 15s.

The Nigerian sales office asked that I provide my bank's routing number.
