I'm glad to be here; please call me "hello" The Serpentine Belt on my X3 broke, and I have been unable to locate a replacement that would work with my vehicle's powerplant. The one I got from Euro Car Parts, based on the registration number, was far too lengthy (6pk2080). photographs of the engine and pulley system are attached, but I have been unable to locate any internet images that are a close match. My vehicle's Alternator is located below the Power Steering Pump on the right side of the engine. The line sketch has a similar arrangement, but the Alternator and Steering pump have been switched. The tension pulley has been flipped to the top.

Use the last seven digits of the chassis number on realoem.com to get the corresponding component number.

Just wanted to let you know that I checked out that webpage and it leads to the 2080 belt, which was far too long when I attempted it. Is there any way I can determine the belt size I need?

Is the belt really routed in the right direction?

It was at least 12 inches too long and, like the line chosen above, went around all of the pulleys and tensioner.

Like this, then? Don't worry about the bottom pulley so close to the alternator.

Does your air conditioner have its own pulley and belt?

We appreciate the diagram and will put it to use tomorrow; the air conditioner uses a different, four-ribbed belt that does not have a tensioner wheel.

The new belt seems to be excessively lengthy because of an error in your illustration of how to fasten it.

Thank you everybody for your responses. The problem was actually with the routing. The 2080 belt was the right one since it snapped into place, but I couldn't tell which way it looped until I consulted the diagram.
