That would certainly suffice.

I am approaching one year of ownership. My automobile need servicing and a MOT. An impartial merchant has said the following:

The cost for Oil Service is £263.75 plus VAT, while the vehicle inspection remains at £75.00 plus VAT. As previously stated, the MOT fee is £50, excluding VAT.

Upon reviewing the service history, it is determined that spark plugs and air filters will be required for replacement in April.

Spark plugs cost £26.43 apiece for 6, plus VAT. Air filters are required in pairs (left and right). £32.60 per unit. The laboratory fee is £170 for a duration of 1.5 hours and an additional 0.5 hours.

£394.38 plus VAT

Is this pricing appropriate? The vehicle has travelled less than 22,000 kilometres. What precisely constitutes a car inspection?

A vehicle check involves a thorough inspection of the vehicle to ensure all components are functioning properly. Suspension, braking systems, etc.

Purchased two filters for £25.The cost of a set of six spark plugs is £70.Oil service at Indy costs £100. I have a strong aversion to BMW. I do my own auto maintenance, including oil, oil filter, and air filters, for £55. It is advisable to undertake the task independently.Independent dealerships now possess ISTA and may document the service history of the vehicle. They are affiliated with BMW and pay for the privilege. I had rear brake pads replaced a few months ago, using BMW pads and a wear sensor for £160. This service was performed by Williams Performance, a BMW specialist capable of updating service records, among other services. The BMW would cost around £500.

Applicable for pads; nevertheless, concerning oil service and air filters. I do the task independently; the spark plugs are as I specified, hence BMW is imposing the customary double M tax on them. What is your location? We may be able to direct you to a reputable independent.

Located in Hereford, but willing to travel within reasonable limits. Thank you. £263 + VAT seems exorbitant.

The only individual I am aware of in the vicinity, namely in Middlesex, is Bwchiptune. He was a forum sponsor here, and others can corroborate this. His services will undoubtedly be more economical than BMW. I have Hoos Mobile on my phone, but it is easily accessible via a Google search or by sending him a message on this site.

Indeed, he has been a BMW technician for over 15 years before transitioning to private practice, accumulating over 30 years of experience with BMW. He specialised in ECU programming and remapping, and he is a genuine BMW expert using dealer-level ISTA+ and similar tools.
