Hi .
i need some help figuring out what to search for.
You can feel the engine's continual shaking through your seat, gear shifter, and steering wheel. The clutch is engaged and it still rattles at idling. When traveling at a quicker pace or in a higher gear, the vibration is less noticeable, right?
The vehicle can be started with the push of a button, and it shifts gears and has the same amount of power as before.
A BMW Foxwell OBD reader that I plugged in likewise detected no problems.
Took it to a nearby mechanic and paid for a diagnostic; they kept the vehicle for a day but appeared confused when no codes came up; they eventually informed me a BMW specialist there believes the problem is a malfunctioning injector, though they offered no assurances that would be the case.
Obviously, I don't want to throw money away on a hunch.
I'm no mechanic, but I always assumed that a malfunctioning injector would result in error messages and a rough-running automobile.
To get a second opinion, I plan on taking it to a different garage.
Seek feedback, however, on if there is anything I should verify before proceeding.
Thanks

Do you still get the same sense of power whether there is no vibration or a running problem that causes vibration?
What's the transmission kind and mileage like, if you don't mind me asking?
If the vehicle is manual, I would inspect the crank pulley and the DMF.
Even if no codes are present, a study of real-time performance and injector data will reveal whether one is malfunctioning.

I appreciate the responses.
The car is a manual and has 165,000 miles on it.
I've had it for two to three years and driven it for 10,000 to 15,000 miles with little usage. The same sense of strength remains. Full record of maintenance and repairs! and I haven't run across any significant problems.
In what ways can I verify DMF? Drive Shaft Pulley?

With the engine turned off, jiggle the crank pulley to check for cracks and observe how much play there is in the rubber bearing.
I'm curious if there are any sounds or how the clutch feels when you initially start the engine.
Please don't run out and acquire a new clutch or pulley because of what I'm saying; it's difficult to diagnose via the internet. You need confirmation before committing funds.
Someone could know of a good area to take it depending on where you are in the nation.

Yeah, it makes sense.
I plan to inspect the pulley later on today.
The automobile starts up smoothly with no noise.
The clutch operates well.
It wasn't a very seamless transition from second to third to fourth gear when I entered the highway, and I briefly noticed an issue (possible vibration). The fog lifted as I shifted to fifth or sixth gear. This occurred three times before it progressed to the perpetual engine vibration.
Please let me know if you have any recommendations for garages in the Mid Lothian/Edinburgh area.
I know it's tough to make a diagnosis via the internet, but I really appreciate your assistance.

There might be a few different explanations for the symptoms you've mentioned, which include a severe vibration in the seat, gear shift, and steering wheel. Make sure your tires are properly aligned and balanced. Vibrations may occur at various speeds due to imbalances or misalignment. Possible causes include engine mounts that are worn or broken. If these mounts are malfunctioning, it might be causing the vibrations you're feeling. Codes may not always be generated by a defective injector, but they may be. Vibrations might also be caused by a blocked fuel injector or low quality gasoline. Another component that helps reduce engine vibrations is the harmonic balancer. Your current feelings may be the result of damage to this system.

I appreciate your response.
Idle is also a problem, so I know it's not the tires or anything else. In addition, I have double-checked the engine mounts. Also, I made sure the crank pulley was in fine working order.
The injector is certainly defective in some way, but I can't say for sure that it's the source of the shaking, so I'm going to give the garage a chance and let them replace it.
I suspect the clutch or flywheel.
Not much more to double-check, so here's hoping the garage is right and l'm incorrect.
Thanks
