Greetings,
I am contacting you to enquire about a particular issue with flywheel components for my car.
I am examining the following flywheel component numbers to ascertain their compatibility for the same flywheel.
1. 8681723 2. 8690203 3. 9454556
My study indicates that component number 1 is suitable for automobiles produced from 2016 to early 2017. Conversely, component numbers 2 and 3 are designated for cars manufactured from July 2017 forward. My car, a 2017 BMW F30 330e (RWD, 1998cc, 185KW, 252HP B48B20A), is classified under component number 1, since it was produced in April 2017.
Considering the tight relationship between these vehicles, I am interested in whether the latter part numbers (2 and 3) may also be compatible with my car. In the UK, I have been unable to get aftermarket component number 1 at a fair price; however, alternatives for part numbers 2 and 3 are plentiful.
I would highly value any assistance or clarity that can be offered about this issue.
I appreciate your help.

Realoem indicates that 203 replaces 723 as of July 2017; however, it is not retroactively exchangeable. Additionally, 556 is applicable just to G01 X3 models.
According to the information provided by the original equipment manufacturer, it seems that only part number 8681723 is compatible.
Uncertain about the distinction, maybe related to the quantity or dimensions of the spline?

Thank you for your response.
I am contemplating how distinct the updated model may be, given that it uses the same B48 engine and gearbox.
As you may have seen, realoem.com indicates that the outdated component was used for just a few months between 2016 and 2017.
Consequently, I am inclined to accept the risk, since spending over £1000 on a flywheel is exorbitant, particularly given the availability of a newer unit at a much reduced price.
Previously, I had a problem with my starting motor, which BMW replaced at no cost for the component; I was just billed for the service, amounting to around £250.
I was informed that it was a prevalent defect and they had installed an enhanced version.
I am considering that the same may apply to the flywheel.
They may have recognised a defect and subsequently enhanced it, similar to the starting motor.
I want to locate an individual who has already navigated this dilemma, since I have posed the inquiry to many specialists; nonetheless, neither BMW nor independent garages have provided a sufficient elucidation, according strictly to established protocols.
I really value your input.
Thank you.

They may have altered the gearbox; while it remains the same model, the input splines might vary.
Given that it explicitly indicates non-exchangeability, I would hypothesise that a physical distinction exists; consider locating photos of both to ascertain any differences.

I have conducted a physical comparison using images, and to me, they seem identical, which adds to the confusion.

Upload those images to the topic; others may notice something.

I would likely choose for the less expensive component number, regardless of what realoem indicates. I anticipated seeing a clear distinction between them.

Indeed, they seem similar outwardly.
However, I assume there may be tiny internal adjustments or upgrades. Could it possible influence any outcomes?
I recognise your professionalism and assume you possess familiarity with these types of components.
I have never needed to change a flywheel in my life.
Thank you.

Indeed, I have changed one or two flywheels over the years; often, the changes are rather apparent, but this instance is peculiar.as nothing is distinctive.
Without a precise understanding of the difference, it is difficult to ascertain whether it might have any impact. Nonetheless, I would still gamble on my own vehicle; but, I would refrain from doing so with another's unless I was absolutely certain that no complications would arise.
