I possess a W126 420 SEC equipped with a Jetronic fuel system. Can anyone recommend a specialist capable of diagnosing and resolving issues with this system? I reside in northern Herefordshire but am willing to travel for an individual who possesses a comprehensive understanding of Jetronics.
Thank you.

Any Mercedes specialist knowledgeable about 1980s models will be capable of diagnosing difficulties. I am not located in the UK, but I anticipate that the SL shop will possess a comprehensive understanding of the matter.
Mercedes, Ford, Volkswagen, and Rolls Royce all possess CIS, allowing for the possibility of interviewing others.

It is advisable to specify which version of Jetronic, as multiple variants exist. I presume it is either K Jetronic, the entirely mechanical system, or KE Jetronic, which incorporates some electrical help.

If it is a 420, it will be KE.

Experts on the Mk 2 Golf GTI will provide assistance. I was rather proficient with it, having owned several and worked at the dealership; but, I believe much of that knowledge has been obscured by alcohol over the years. It is quite straightforward in comparison to contemporary injection methods or even the subsequent KE Jetronic.

In 9 out of 10 instances at this age (or even 15 years prior), the issue will likely be attributed to the fuel distributor or the injectors becoming obstructed due to stagnant fuel. The little gasket between the two halves may fail, presenting an additional issue.
Symptom: Excessive fuel mixture
Failure to engage during inactivity
Stuttering during exertion
That is contingent upon its operational status. At times, it is a vacuum. These engines are equipped with several vacuum lines, and unmeasured air results in disorder.

According to MercedesMan98, it should be Jetronic KE 3.1, and I assumed that any Jetronic specialist would be capable of assisting me. I am still seeking an expert who is not located too far away. I contacted the SL business, but their estimate, even for diagnostics alone, was alarming.

Upon analysing the entries, it appears that most members of this forum possess newer models from the 2000s or later. A limited number of individuals possess older CIS-injected vehicles (or even D-Jetronic and mechanical fuel injection systems), but we generally undertake our own maintenance. If you intend to hire someone for the task, I recommend assessing their duration of operation. If they have been around since the 1980s or 1990s, it is likely they are acquainted with CIS systems.
