Greetings, everyone. During the recent and uncommon high temperatures of 24°C in my location in Ireland, the driver's side was fully exposed to the sun, even with the windows open. Yesterday, I saw hairline markings on the driver's side seat, namely along the cushioning next to the door. Has anybody else encountered this? If so, do you have any tips to avoid its deterioration? Thank you.

No damage to any other seats. Kindly share your opinion, if you would. Thank you.

That is manageable and may likely be resolved with an appropriate leather treatment.

I have heard that applying Vaseline to the cloth might soften it and aid in its preservation. I will attempt it nonetheless. The sat cover will thereafter be a permanent fixture on that seat. I acknowledge that it is not in a detrimental condition now, nevertheless one understands the feeling when even a little imperfection is seen.I recall my first Mercedes-Benz, a 2010 E-Class W212, including the notorious Artico seat material, which featured a split across the driver's seat. The vehicle functioned well, presenting no issues; nonetheless, I replaced it far ahead of its scheduled replacement due to the torn Artico seat upholstery.
Thank you for your attention and remark on the topic.
Wishing you all the best.

Following the application of Vaseline, the appearance has much improved in person; yet, it is an enhancement nonetheless. I have temporarily removed the seat cover to allow the cloth to absorb the treatment. It is hoped that it will be effective. However, be advised that exposing the inside to intense sunlight and elevated temperatures will adversely affect the seat covering. I believe the material is the same old Artico, rather than authentic leather; yet, maybe someone has more accurate information.
Thank you for your assistance.

Hello, I believe certain vehicles used a material known as MB-Tex.

MB Tex was an excellent, robust material, characterized by its substantial thickness and durability. I had a W108 with a blue MB Tex interior, which I first regarded with disdain and even attempted to get a pair of second-hand cloth or leather seats for replacement. I quickly developed an appreciation for them and recognized the remarkable durability of the material. I had a W166 ML for some time with Artico seats, and while the material resembles leather more realistically, it lacks the durability of the previous MB Tex. My pre-facelift S212 seems to consist of both leather and Artico materials.

Indeed, it was also referred to as ARTICO, if my recollection is accurate. Presented persistent issues mostly in MB W212 models. Potentially further models as well.

It seems that you and Bigdrew are accurate; Artico and MB-Tex are two distinct materials. Regrettably, the upholstery on my 2018 E-Class W213 seems to be Artico.
