2016 Mercedes W213 E-Class Estate The engine check light displays the iCarsoft code P229F, indicating a range/performance issue with the NOx sensor in Bank. One Sensor Two.
Detracted both upstream and downstream NOx sensors, immersed in injector fluid, and cleansed overnight. Erased fault codes.

The original Nox sensor is level G/01, and the fault code has reappeared after 120 miles.
I intend to upgrade the upstream sensor with a level 02 aftermarket component, as I am unable to procure a level 1.
Am I correct that levels 1 and 2 can be calibrated and re-learned by the ECU, however levels 3 and higher require the simultaneous replacement of both sensors along with a software upgrade performed by Mercedes or an independent technician?

Any feedback would be valued.

The Nox sensors activate following a minimum drive duration of 20 minutes.

Is there a specific mileage threshold at which the fault is documented?

Will the deletion of the code adversely affect the engine? Most of my travels are under 10 miles.

1. Erasing the trouble codes will not damage the engine.

Aftermarket NOx sensors may be unreliable; authentic ones are likely your optimal choice.

3. Engaging in a discussion with your local MB dealer is advisable, as NOx sensors have been changed by MB at no cost in some situations. It is a remote possibility, yet merits an attempt. Furthermore, has your vehicle undergone the 'Dieselgate' ECU software upgrade, and if yes, when was it performed?

4. Unfortunately, AdBlue problems can be intricate. While iCarsoft indicates a problem with the NOx sensors, further difficulties may continue to exist even after their replacement. To appropriately calibrate expectations.

5. I am uncertain about which NOx sensors may be easily replaced, which require a software update, and which necessitate calibration.

Thank you for your feedback. I will consult with the MB dealer for confirmation; however, the vehicle was purchased in 2016 and was not subject to the Dieselgate upgrade. The initial two years of servicing were conducted by the MB dealer. If I install the authentic Nox sensors with the MB Dealers, they will immediately upgrade to the latest level sensors for optimal functionality. endeavouring to evade this at all costs. The AdBlue injector may be obstructed, preventing correct injection of AdBlue. The following images depict the injector mount in the exhaust before and after cleaning, which is a relatively simple task.

I shall endeavour to clean the Adblue injector. Next week, AdBlue crystal cleaner was introduced approximately five weeks ago. Thank you.

Performing well at 81. I trust you will discover the resolution to this matter.

Your issue is evident; most of my trips are under 10 miles. You acknowledged that diesel engines frequently require what is referred to as an Italian tune-up. Failure to address this issue will likely result in several complications in the future. Resolve the car issue and do yourself a favour; exchange it for a fuel vehicle. Diesels must reach an optimal high temperature with each use.Failure to address this will result in persistent issues with your DPF and knock sensors. Render yourself a service. Purchase a petrol vehicle if your daily travel is limited to 10 miles. Best of luck, my friend.

Thank you for the counsel. I anticipated that cleaning the Adblue injector, which was not obstructed, would resolve the issue; but, the check engine light reappeared. I have arranged for the vehicle with Oliver at PCS Horndean, highly endorsed by members, to address the NOx sensor problem.

As an enthusiastic beach angler, many annual excursions to Dungeness and Hayling Island should adequately exercise the vehicle.
