I'm hoping I'm not alone on this one. My Audi Q7 3.0TDI S-Line has several issues, and Audi is unwilling or unable of resolving them.
The issues began in November 2007, when I began to smell diesel inside the vehicle via the heating vents. I was instructed to keep an eye on it:(
In December (when the temperature was colder - indeed, it seems to be heating linked), the stench became stronger, and I could smell diesel both leaving and inside the vehicle (in fact, the issue was worse if I had the window slightly open). Finally, the dealer agreed to accept the automobile on December 21st in exchange for a loan car. They said that the issue was caused by an exhaust on an auxiliary engine (related to heating) located behind the right front tire arch. Audi released a repair and was awaiting components (tape, believe it or not). The solution was to seal the wheel arches and the plenum chamber (whatever it is). At the time, I voiced worry that this would just conceal the issue (and maybe prevent the stench from reaching into the vehicle), but not solve it. They advised me to let them conduct the repair and then watch the vehicle. Simultaneously, they ran a software update that utterly messed up the whole vehicle and wrecked the ECU - I now had to wait for a new ECU (more on the troubles that this has brought later). After 7 weeks, I finally got my vehicle back, and within 3 miles, I could smell burned fuel inside. I went back to the dealer right after, and he told me it was probably residue from before the fix, and it will go away. The scent was improved for a few days, occuring just once every other day, but in the past two weeks it has increased to up to three times every day. The vehicle will be returned to the dealer tomorrow, but in my view, 'what can they do', this looks to be a design flaw.
Is this an issue that anybody else is experiencing? According to my dealer, there is just one other Q7 with the same problem.
Now for the ECU replacement and software update.
The first thing I noticed following this occurrence was that I no longer had voice control over my bluetooth phone and names. When I asked the dealer about it, he told me that Voice Control was not a bought option on my car (which was right). I mentioned that I didn't have complete voice control over everything, just the names for dialing, and that I believed this was included in the bluetooth bundle. I wrote to Audi indicating that I was granted this feature when I bought the vehicle and that it has now been removed - something they should not be entitled to do. I have requested that this capability be restored quickly. The letter was sent four weeks ago, and there has been no response to yet. Customer Service? - No, I don't believe so. It seems to be a matter of taking your money (a substantial amount) and then peeing off.
Other issues that have arisen following the software change include:
1. Turbo lag - the automobile takes 2 to 3 seconds to react at low rpm. Poor performance at intersections and roundabouts.
2. The driver's window opens halfway after locking the vehicle with the key fob (this has occurred three times, the most recently when it poured all night and I had to put up with a soaked seat for three days - who knows what it did to the leather).
3. The electric driver's seat continues to move. Clear the memory. Exit the vehicle. When you go back in, the seat has shifted and the memory setting has not been stored. I tried everything I could think of but nothing worked.
4. This has always been an issue - the information on Traffic Info is inaccurate - road numbers are incorrect, etc. According to the vendor, it only shows information received from radio stations that broadcast TMC. My sister, on the other hand, has a brand new VW Golf with the identical function, and guess what? All of the information is presented accurately.
Has anybody else encountered similar issues?
What began as my pride and pleasure is quickly turning into a nightmare, and Audi doesn't seem to care. If it is not fixed quickly, I will have to rethink my alternative choice of a Range Rover Sport.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read my lengthy rant.

I wish you the best of luck! I had a 2007 Audi A4 with several issues, and AOA did nothing to help, and the dealer's technicians were unable to repair it. I instructed AOA to get... Now I drive a Volvo, which isn't too awful... Best regards!

Before you contemplate the Range Rover Sport, you should visit the RRS forum at rrsport.co.uk. The RRS has far more design flaws than the Audi Q7. I purchased one in March of this year, and I believe it spent more time at the dealership than on the road. Aside from the irritating thud from the arc pump, Suspension knocked like an old Mk 2 Cortina. The dealer couldn't repair it and attempted to convince me that it was "a characteristic of the car." Land Rover's customer service is atrocious. Finally, I offered the dealer the choice of purchasing the vehicle back or taking the issue to court.
I now have a Q7 S line that I am much pleased with, the dealer is excellent, and the Audi is truly considerably better built and in a different league than the RRS.
Regards

I express my gratitude for the respondents' valuable contributions and guidance. I was seeking to ascertain if other owners of the Audi Q7 had encountered comparable difficulties to mine, with the intention of collaboratively addressing these concerns with Audi.

The emission of diesel fumes, often accompanied by significant exterior smoke, may be attributed to the operation of an auxiliary heater that facilitates quick heating of both the vehicle's interior and engine. The vehicle is equipped with an exhaust system that is positioned on the left side, located in close proximity to and slightly below the front passenger door. This configuration is exclusive to right-hand drive vehicles. The BMW X5 and Range Rover models are equipped with a comparable gadget, while the Mercedes ML model offers it as an optional feature, which was not included in my vehicle.
The automated actuation of the system occurs in response to a decrease in ambient temperature. The automobile has the potential to be equipped with a timer and remote control, allowing for the convenience of a pre-warmed vehicle upon entry.
The emission of fumes mostly takes place during the deactivation and purging of the apparatus. The odor is often imperceptible while driving with closed windows, but becomes evident when the vehicle is stationary or when the windows or doors are opened, emitting a quite strong smell.
Nevertheless, it is not considered a defect until it is perceptible while in motion. It can be seen that when the temperature increases, the system will exhibit less activity.

During the period that my vehicle was undergoing the replacement of a malfunctioning bluetooth module, a few software upgrades were loaded. I own an identical phone model to yours; however, I have yet to use the voice dial feature. Consequently, I am unable to provide a definitive assessment of its current functionality.
There is no issue present on my device, since it exhibits no latency whatsoever. The torque production exhibits a significant decline below 1500 revolutions per minute (revs), sometimes resulting in prolonged engagement of a higher gear. This necessitates the actuation of the accelerator pedal to initiate a downshift and attain a desired level of acceleration.

I also possess a Q7 vehicle manufactured on the same date, which has experienced a similar issue of exhaust fumes entering the interior. The vehicle has been taken in for repairs on six occasions thus far. During the most recent visit, the service center informed me that they have installed a new auxiliary heater with updated software. I will be retrieving the vehicle today, pending confirmation from the service center that the problem has been resolved. If the issue persists, I will be returning the vehicle for further attention.
In addition to that, I must assert that it is a commendable automobile.

Question 7: Disappointments
I was an early adopter of the Q7, having acquired it in 2006. It might be said that the automobile in question has commendable qualities, particularly when juxtaposed with comparable models from other manufacturers.
I have been a devoted enthusiast of Audi automobiles for an extended period of time. Currently, I own a S8, an A3 with a 3.2L engine, a 450 horsepower Coupé, and a V8 with an impressive output of 600 horsepower. Furthermore, I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of an A5 model. I would want to clarify that I do not own a preference for BMW vehicles and do not intend to engage in any disrespectful criticism of the Audi Q7.
There are other analogous issues that have been identified with the device in question. These include the malfunctioning of the Bluetooth functionality, the requirement for a recall due to a back door vulnerability, and the intermittent shutdown of the camera at critical moments. The brake discs were replaced at intervals of 3,000 km, 7,000 km, and 9,000 km. Subsequent to the most recent alteration, I have successfully traversed a distance of 30,000 kilometers without encountering any signs of deterioration or vibrations.
Recently, I expressed my dissatisfaction to the dealer over the gradual deterioration of the Verano leather. The response received was as follows: "It falls under the wear and tear category, making it irreplaceable for them." The vehicle in question remains within the warranty period and has accumulated a mileage of 39,000 kilometers.
The exclamation "WOW, WOW!" expresses a strong sense of surprise or astonishment. I have successfully maintained the appearance of my collection of Audi vehicles, all of which are two decades old, since the leather upholstery in each vehicle remains in pristine condition. It seems possible that Audi may have been involved in some wrongdoing two decades ago.
To refrain from offering critiques on issues that are beyond their comprehension. When the vehicle is placed in reverse, it exhibits auditory and tactile indications in the form of a drilling noise and vibration. Currently, the behavior of engaging in such actions has extended to the "D" mode as well. However, according to my dealer, it is necessary to wait for the manifestation of the issue's effectiveness, even if it means risking human lives, with the hope that the problem does not result in an accident.
What is the direction of our trajectory with respect to AUDI?

I have also experienced the presence of a heavy diesel odor, emanating from the front left side. I requested the assistance of the nearby dealer to examine the matter, but unfortunately, no fruitful findings were obtained.
I appreciate your detailed technical explanation, Quacker. I will return to the dealership in order to investigate the persisting unpleasant odor at a temperature of 10ºC.

Greetings! or Hello!
From my perspective, despite my rigorous attention to even the most subtle olfactory or auditory cues (such as vibrations) in an automobile, I have not encountered any issues pertaining to the heating system or odors. Furthermore, I am not acquainted with any others who have had similar issues. It seems that issues arise spontaneously in the Q7, meaning that there is no identifiable pattern or common problem.
