Sportage Bar Across the Cargo Area

A place for open-ended discussion on any car-related topic.

I need to place a sizable object in the trunk of my Sportage. I can recline the rear seat backs, however this results in a bar obstructing the space, which accommodates the baggage cover. Can that bar be removed, even if just temporarily? How is it accomplished? I haven't figured it out yet, but then I'm not a car mechanic.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much

It features a spring-loaded end; simply push it laterally and lift to detach.

Subsequently, elevate the boot floor and examine the square recesses on the sides designated for storage beneath the floor.

Although it is one of the simplest tasks of the car, the guidebook does not address this.

Accomplished. Thank you for your assistance. Noublue ultimately resolved the issue for me, although it required considerable time to locate the lug beneath the bar, and subsequently, the spring-loaded cap proved reluctant to shift when I attempted to manoeuvre it towards the centre of the vehicle. Currently, both ends require some coaxing to shift.

The section in the manual was not particularly beneficial. I was unaware that the cover was referred to as a cargo security screen, which hindered my ability to locate it. I sought a term that included the words luggage or boot. The images are inadequate since they provide more information on screen storage than on its removal from the standard position. The image titled "Removing cargo security screen" does not reference the lug or the necessity of relocating it, leaving me uninformed on that matter. I had been searching for a clip to publish. They will conceal information and subsequently withhold it from us.

I extend my gratitude to anyone who offered assistance.

Indeed, it is removable.

To remove the entire bar, pull inward from the end on the right-hand side.

The bar can be stored beneath the floor in the trunk.

Regrettably, it fails to specify the method for unclipping the end of the bar, nor does it mention the presence of a lug beneath the end of the bar utilised for this purpose. It is the minutiae that distinguish the outcome.

The task is completed, thus the bar will be reinserted into the car this morning.

The ends of the bar are equipped with spring loading mechanisms. These can be retracted inward towards the car's centerline to disengage it. Kia has provided a storage compartment beneath the boot floor for safekeeping when not in use. It is somewhat cumbersome until one has completed it a few times. If possible, consult the instructions; it will likely elucidate the sequence more effectively than I can, especially with the locking positions for stowing it beneath the floor.
Best of luck!

I simply seize mine at the midpoint and apply pressure in one direction. The conclusion emerges.
