Good day everyone,
So, the 2017 E350d has the 9g box; MB had it done at 31,000 miles before I purchased it, a couple years ago.
The car is getting close to 60,000 miles and will easily surpass this if we visit France again this summer. By that point, if anyone can manage to buy diesel!
It appears complicated, but doable from a do-it-yourself standpoint, based on the videos I've seen on YouTube. The gearbox temperature data is within the acceptable range according to my icarsoft MB v3, but, there is information online regarding a procedure for emptying the valves using diagnostic equipment.
If anyone has ever performed the service without utilising a diagnostic kit for purposes other than monitoring fluid temperatures, I would really appreciate it. Not to mention any thoughts on the significance of that valve emptying process. The vast majority of garages on Earth probably don't do that.
Have any of you ever done the 9G transmission service yourself?

At 8 minutes and 43 seconds into the most recent video from SPR Autos, he services a 9g gearbox. It's not an exhaustive manual, but it does imply that a hybrid approach is unnecessary.

When experts tell you it's a costly box to service, it's worrisome.

Ouch! £500+VAT.
I am curious about the cost of the transfer case service.

Last September, I had my local indy do gearbox service on my front transfer case and rear differential (725.9). I just reviewed the cost.
The total cost of the gearbox repair, including VAT, was £441.42.
It cost £414 for the front and rear transfer cases and differentials.

In addition, I spent £635 to fix a leaky rear differential seal. The month was costly.

The tool is required to rotate the tap's body. In all candour, the tap's several settings are confusing and unsatisfactory. Once you master it, it's fine, but if you're the kind to second-guess yourself later, I'd recommend hiring an expert

After seeing the tap in action on YouTube, I get your point. I certainly enjoy a good challenge from time to time. Your wise counsel is much appreciated.
