Is it smart to part with my Polestar 2?

Six months have passed since I purchased my Polestar 2 Standard Range Single Motor. For the asking price of £11,995, you get a very nice vehicle.

Tragically, another motorist slammed into the vehicle at the beginning of June. After we discussed the details, their insurance company paid out my claim quickly. They decided to intervene by renting me an Audi A6 etron. I wasn't going to make a huge fuss about it.

Due to previous paint chips and scratches, the entire front end of the car has been repaired, which looks great. Plus, the P2 is attractive. Even though my wife hates it, she's content in the ID.3's lower seating position, which I prefer.

The dealer and finance company have ignored the car's ongoing air conditioning problem, which is something I really dislike. (I used financing to buy the car, and I've paid off all but £100.) After contacting the Financial Ombudsman, it appears that the finance company will persist in their slow response. Rejecting the car might be my sole choice.

If this were to occur... Is it better to simply get another P2 or to consider other possibilities? Despite my admiration for the A6, I couldn't justify spending four times as much on it because it was too big for my driveway. A coupé might be acceptable, though I am not a huge fan of SUVs. The P2 SRSM has 224 horsepower, but I'd prefer something with a bit more interior space and power. It should still have the P2's sporting and handling qualities.

This is probably just a rhetorical question, but if you don't reject it, you'll either be left without air conditioning (which is likely also used to cool the traction battery) or you'll have to pay to have it fixed.

Has a Polestar dealership checked it out?

May have more to do with prior TSBs than the accident itself. There have been problems with the software and hardware, as this advertisement mentions.

Uncertain of the exact nature of the problem, Mates' 22-plate Polestar 2 had some knickknacks repaired under warranty.

The cabin's actuators are involved. Dealer told me it's a complicated fix that involves taking parts of the dashboard apart. The side of the driver is slightly chilly, while the side of the passenger is only warmly warmed. Indeed, a Volvo/Polestar dealer gave their expert opinion after inspecting it.

Since the transition to RWD appears to have been beneficial, MY24 suggests a Polestar 2 Long Range to address the performance issue. Doesn't, however, result in extra room inside! It could be a smart move if you can turn down the Polestar you're currently using.

This is a difficult one if you're looking for something roomier that isn't an SUV. Despite their larger dimensions, the Ioniq5, EV6, GV60, and Enyaq Coupe all offer more power than your current model. Although it is long and low, the i4 is a lovely car.

I was thinking about getting an LR model; there are some 2022 models with two motors that would work within my budget (which isn't going to exceed £16,000). Problematically, it is well-known that dual-motor cars experience a whining or droning sound from the rear motor as a result of bearing failure. Complete motor failure, which can cost thousands to repair, can result from this. I prefer to purchase cars without a manufacturer warranty and am willing to take the risk, so that car probably isn't for me. A manufacturer's extended warranty package might be worth considering, though, if the price is reasonable.

Did the prang cause the air conditioner to break down, or was it there before? Has a quote been provided for the job? I thought that was part of an insurance agent's job if the prang was the cause.

I am quite pleased with my Polestar 2. As a first option, I would look into ways to keep it with minimal cost to myself.

Separate from the accident, pre-existing issue. I informed the dealer about it ten days after I received the car, and they have been absolutely awful about handling the situation.
I have been debating keeping the car for the past six weeks since I haven't had it.
