Popular U-Codes for the Toyota CAN Gateway

In the event that the Central Gateway Module or the Network Bus experiences a communication loss, the vehicle will record the following standard network DTCs:

When one or more oecus are unable to communicate via the primary CAN bus, it is indicative of a general network failure (U0073 - Control Module Communication Bus "A" Off).
The gateway module lost contact with the main Engine Control Module (ECM/PCM "A"). This is indicated by the U0100 code.
• U0129 - Lost Communication with Brake System Control Module: This happens when the gateway and the ABS/Skid Control ECU are unable to communicate with each other, which often happens when the battery voltage drops while the vehicle is being worked on.
• U0140 - Body Control Module (BCM) Lost Communication: Signal drops between the central processor and the gateway for the body's electronics.
• U1117 - The Accessory Gateway ECU Has Lost Communication: This warning light comes on when an aftermarket device (such as a dashcam, tracker, or display adapter) gets in the way of the accessory CAN lines, or when a connector is removed while the 12V battery is still attached.
