The alternator bolt fitted by her reliable family mechanic around one year ago had inexplicably loosened, causing the alternator to sway on the unusual belt tensioner, which resulted in the belt slipping off and ceasing to drive the water pump. She drove it to my residence in a state of distress due to the illumination of the battery light. I attempted repairs, although the vehicle failed to start. Upon inspecting the plug holes, I discovered fluid in the cylinders, leading me to conclude that the gasket is likely compromised. We will ascertain the extent of the damage shortly.

It is more probable that the engine has a cracked head or block, rendering it unsuitable for use. Investing in such engines poses a significant risk, as the extent of the damage may remain undetected until a rebuild is undertaken. Pressure testing is ineffective, as it is conducted when cold; many engines reveal issues only upon heating during startup. It would be prudent to seek an alternative engine.
