Dashcam inquiry, what have you accomplished?

Following an 18-month, 9,000-mile hiatus in an MG4, I have concluded that I favour the Kia experience.
Visited to examine a 2023 model with a 64 kWh capacity. After owning a 30kWh Soul for four years and covering 40,000 miles, my partner swiftly concluded that the EV2 we parked beside was more aesthetically pleasing, thus the choice was made. 😂
Engaging in a trade with the MG4 on Thursday, notwithstanding the EV2 abruptly applying the brakes at a roundabout during the test drive and subsequently advising me to "exercise caution" !! 😱. An unsolicited 'conversation' ensued, during which Mrs. A.I. seemed to disapprove of my tone or diction (harrruumph).
Thus, in response to my inquiry. I find it hard to comprehend that dashcams are not universally included in all new automobiles. I possess a combined front and rear Nextbase device powered by the 12v socket in the MG4. I sought a hardwired option for my Kia and received a quotation of £156 per hour for installation—one hour for the front and one hour for the rear (integrated, utilising a single wire for both). I am currently awaiting a quote for their provision and installation, but I anticipate it will exceed £500-600.
I am inclined to solely hardwire the front and subsequently connect the rear myself, totalling £156.
What actions have others undertaken, please?

I believe I may have interfered with the wiring/connectors for the passenger side airbag on the MG4 while personally routing cables, resulting in erroneous on/off notifications, classified as a SIGNIFICANT FLAW in the MOT documentation, rendering it unlawful for public road use when activated.
MG sanctioned a specific quantity of investigative efforts, subsequently asserted no culpability and discontinued the process. Likelihood of a costly paperweight situation, thus exchange. Furthermore, I am reluctant to take that risk once more.

It perplexes me why manufacturers do not simply incorporate a USB socket into the headlining adjacent to the rearview mirror.

Alternatively, one could simply document everything with the multitude of cameras present on the vehicle. Storage is not particularly costly in the present era.

Numerous nations prohibit dashcams owing to GDPR considerations.

This is the reason manufacturers do not produce them as standard.
The speed limit camera possesses a very low resolution, rendering it ineffective as a dashcam.

...and nevertheless, they are admissible in a court of law as evidence of speeding 😁.
I appreciate that; I would have never considered it.
Thus, the USB port adjacent to the rearview mirror emerges as the evident resolution. One must contend with the 2 meters of cable supplied by the dashcam vendor. 😂 Alternatively, supply your own standardised 10cm USB-C cable. 👍

I have also heard similar claims, yet I am curious about how Tesla manages to operate in these markets without repercussions. Indifferent sigh.

Numerous forum contributors have successfully hardwired their 2 or 3 channel dashcams without complications, ensuring they navigate around airbags and similar components. Nevertheless, I opted against taking the risk in the event of a future electrical malfunction that might require a warranty repair, fearing that the dealership would deny service due to the self-installation of the dashcam. Consequently, I opted for a dealer-installed 2-channel Nextbase 385GWX at approximately £400. Thus far, everything is functioning well, with no signs of parasitic drain, etc.

Should you be able to manage with merely a front camera (or one featuring a wide-angle interior lens that can function as an inadequate 360-degree alternative), an adapter can be procured to connect to the rearview mirror for USB power supply. It functions effectively, although it lacks a parking camera as it operates solely with the ignition activated. Extremely organised with almost no wire routing.

What is this? 🤔. I comprehend the terminology, yet I believe I must examine the mirror to ascertain my connection to it.
The camera I possess features a unified front and rear design, requiring only a single power source.
It appears to be the perfect resolution, so I appreciate that.
