I possess a 24 Turbo S Premium. The guide recommends replacing the spark plugs, altering the front and rear differential fluid, and purging the brake fluid. I am curious if anyone has completed all this maintenance at merely 40,000 miles. Is it truly essential to perform this at this frequency? The projected cost surpasses $1000 for all three services. I appreciate any insights you may provide.

I was appalled by the cost of plugs at 40k, yet I opted to perform the replacement myself, thereby conserving $1050 from the dealership ($605 for labour and $480 for plugs before tax). You might be able to postpone replacing the plugs until 60,000 miles, considering the images I have observed of plugs at 40,000 to 45,000 miles. However, delaying may pose a warranty issue if an associated problem arises. I neglected to change the brake fluid at 20,000 miles and have now completed it at 40,000 miles. My nearby tyre establishment informed me that it is advisable to change brake fluid approximately every 24,000 miles on the majority of contemporary vehicles. Mazda's request for maintenance every 20,000 miles is not excessively unreasonable.

Unless your vehicle is subjected to significant towing or extreme circumstances, it is likely acceptable to postpone differential maintenance until 60,000 miles. That is the time I will replace my differential oil. I had the gearbox fluid changed at the dealership at 30,000 miles, but I will perform the service myself at 60,000 miles now that I possess greater knowledge and confidence in car maintenance. I understand that not everyone possesses the capability to repair their own vehicle, but I trust this post will assist you in determining the work you choose to undertake with the dealership or another technician.

The pricing set by dealers for plugs is exorbitant, particularly when they appear functional at approximately 40,000 miles. Prioritising brake fluid at 40,000 miles appears to be the more rational choice.
