Hello everyone,
I have discovered a solution to avoid replacing the whole glove box due to the faulty catch mechanism present in Mercedes CLKs, which resembles a bird's mouth and bar setup.
Purchase a B&Q Ball Catch from the DIY department at B&Q.
To install a ball catch on a door, remove the pen holders and screw the female part into the groove. It is helpful to use tiny pilot holes. Insert the male part into the pen holder on the lid. Fasten by turning clockwise. Ensure that everything is properly aligned. Task completed.
Then you may use the money saved to go on a vacation or buy beer. Joyful times. I hope this is beneficial. I will endeavour to upload more photographs shortly.
I discovered the solution to the glove box issue! CLK W209 or any model of CLK

I have not abandoned the latch on mine yet, but I believe a sturdy closure may be necessary for it to remain shut, which might be handy in the future.

Not currently necessary, however I anticipate the need for this change in the future. Thank you.

I discovered that the glove box on the CLK can be modified with a screwdriver in only 2 minutes and at no expense.

The problem with the CLK glove box is widely discussed on this platform. To modify the catch, the CD changer in the glove box must be relocated, although this task just takes a few minutes. It definitely takes less time than going to Block and Quayle, and it's free.

I discovered that the same approach works, however the latch may need adjustment since it may get misaligned with time.
I have only had to modify mine once. Everything is functioning well.
