I am considering purchasing an 18 plate sportage 1.6 gt line auto. When does Kia suggest doing so?

I am uncertain. It is possible that it is suitable for life.
Performing a gearbox service is highly recommended for vehicles that are 6 years old or older.
Proceed with the task if it is worth retaining.

If the vehicle is equipped with the 7-speed DCT gearbox, Kia does not provide it. This gearbox is not a conventional automatic gearbox. Kia advises only monitoring the oil levels during planned maintenance.

Thank you for your response. Indeed, you are accurate in identifying the gearbox. I have recently spoken with Kia, and they have verified that it is a sealed system. Therefore, it is advisable to adhere to the service plan and maintain the gearbox accordingly. It is worth noting that it is uncommon for an automatic gearbox to not need gearbox fluid replacement every 30-40 thousand miles.

To avoid spreading negativity, I suggest doing a search on this forum for topics related to DCT. This gearbox has certain characteristics that need modifications in your driving technique, since it is not a torque converter gearbox. Avoid maintaining the vehicle's position on an incline by using power or gradually approaching intersections/ roundabouts. In my previous Sportage, I had the same gearbox, which had a remarkable gearbox capable of executing rapid and very smooth gearshifts. However, it is important to acknowledge and embrace the aforementioned technical modifications in order to fully appreciate its performance.

However, it is worth noting that they still possess both a fill plug and a drain plug.

What is the total mileage of it?I had a 64 registration 2.0 CRDI vehicle with an automatic gearbox that began to exhibit a rough and jerky sensation about 60,000 km. To address this issue, I consulted an instructional video on YouTube, which provided the fundamental information that using Kia automatic fluid is recommended. The first task is to quantify the quantity of oil that is drained, since it is not possible to completely replace all the oil due to the presence of oil in the cooler and pipes.Subsequently, replenish the quantity of oil that was previously drained with fresh oil. If you lack confidence in your ability to execute it. Consult an expert on automatic transmissions. Obtain a quotation from a Kia dealership to have an understanding of the anticipated cost. Incidentally, after the oil change, the gear shifts were restored to their original condition.

The car has accumulated a mileage of 53,000 kilometres. The vehicle operates with little noise and has excellent performance, characterised by seamless gear transitions. I was attempting to comprehend the process of changing the gearbox oil, but Kia has informed me that it is a sealed device and does not need any maintenance unless there is a malfunction. However, there are contradictory opinions, with some individuals suggesting a gearbox oil change at roughly 80000 miles.

Despite the current trend of regularly maintaining vehicles, I decided to replace the oil on my 2018 manual sportage at 50,000 miles.
The substance that emerged had the appearance of molten metal.
Perhaps that is OK, however I noticed a significant improvement in the smoothness of my transmission after adding fresh oil.
The fee is £25, so the decision is yours.
I will definitely be servicing my Optima soon, since it has reached 60,000 miles, and there are a couple more maintenance tasks that Kia does not often include in their regular services.
If you are comfortable with do-it-yourself (DIY) projects, why not consider it? Additionally, if the automobile has the ability to be used for a long period of time, that would be much more advantageous.
Although I do not often retain things for extended periods, the concept is present.

At 120,000 km, I performed an ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) change on my Sorento. However, when I did the ATF change at 60,000 kilometres, I was only able to extract around 5 litres of fluid since the remaining amount was still within the torque converter. Based on my understanding, as long as the oil remains pink in colour and does not emit a burned smell, it is deemed OK. However, after reading this discussion, I have decided to remove the sump and replace the filter.
