I had my front brake pads replaced in November 2023, and I have barely driven 1,000 miles since then.
The car is a 2017 5 Series Touring.
Last week, I had a repair performed at a nearby non-BMW facility. They replaced the rear brake pads, changed the oil, replaced the brake fluid, and reset the service light.
The oil and brake fluid need replacement in March 2026. The rear brake pads are indicating that they will need to be changed in about 17,000 miles.
Nevertheless, despite having changed my front pads in November, they are now indicating the need for replacement. Last week, at the car's servicing, the garage replaced the sensor on the front pads.
The garage's current service, conducted last week, is not appearing in the service history shown on the dashboard.
The facility claims to have exhausted all possible measures and advises me to disregard the brake light warning until I need their services for a thorough repair.
Does anybody know why the service record from last week is not appearing in the system?
Is it possible that there is another sensor malfunction, or does the garage need to do a reset?
In addition, I have attempted to reset the device using the button located on the dashboard. The reset function is shown as a possibility, however it proves to be ineffective when attempting it.
Thank you in advance
The service indicator remains on.

In order to reset from the dashboard, the parking brake must be disengaged. If this method proves ineffective, use Bimmerlink to eliminate any malfunctions and restore the braking service to its original state. The warning indicator for my front brake system activated after driving 10,000 miles, indicating a malfunctioning sensor. The pads exhibited little signs of wear.

Indeed, I should have mentioned that I attempted the task both with and without disengaging the parking brake, although unfortunately, I did not achieve the desired outcome. I am not familiar with Bimmerlink, but I will investigate it. Greetings

Was the rear sensor changed last week?
The service will only be shown on the I drive if the necessary software is available to upload the relevant information.

Uncertain. However, the rear brakes are indicating satisfactory condition. There is a problem with the front.
During the service, they did connect a device, however it seems that they did not have the appropriate equipment.

Did the brakes exhibit the same condition prior to the service? It is peculiar that the reset function does not work on the dashboard. The only instance in which I have encountered such a situation is when a sensor is malfunctioning or when the first stage has been operated and the sensor has not been replaced.

The illumination of the warning signal for the front brakes prompted me to seek maintenance services. However, I had overlooked the fact that the brakes had already been serviced in November.
Despite the initial assessment that they were in good condition, the items were nonetheless inspected and determined to need replacement of the sensor, which was promptly done. I believe it just seems to be a malfunctioning sensor that has become defective once again.

Last year, I had a similar occurrence.
The issue was identified as the back sensor.
Before receiving a warning, I replaced the pads. However, I suspect that the sensor had made contact with the first stage, as Johnny said. Despite this, the sensor seemed to be in fine condition, so I decided to reuse it.
A novel sensor has been developed, which has the capability to do service reset.

Not beneficial, however I would recommend avoiding that garage since they do not own ista software, indicating that they are not specialised in servicing BMW vehicles.
