I'm now driving a 2016 X Drive 335d that was remapped by Simon at E Maps, whom I've used previously. This is my ninth 3 Series overall, and my third M3 (E46, E46 CSL, and E90). It took the place of an earlier, remapped 330d.
The current vehicle's performance was already high, and it has been improved greatly. The power surge begins early and continues to feel stronger up to 4,500 rpm.
What's the deal with all this talk about removing the DPF, blanking the EGR, and installing a sports exhaust? Do they add enough power to justify the price? Most of my diesel and gasoline vehicles have been re-mapped, but I haven't taken it beyond that.
335d 2016. Is there any need to go beyond a decent re-map?

Since I am becoming older and slower, I no longer need anything more complicated than a decent map.

No, with the hybrid turbo, M50d Maf sensor, remap, dpf off, and downpipe, the price goes up and you don't get that many further gains. It will also smell like a kipper, look like a chav tractor, and sound like a chav tractor.

What they stated; not practical for driving, and not cheap either.
For dependability rather than 'additional' speed, I'd rather invest in things like new bushes, bearings, oil/coolant/filter changes, vac pipe/air inlet pipes, intercooler pipes, better tyres, etc. The cash you saved by not purchasing "a bit more" acceleration is yours to keep.

It seems prudent to just leave it. You don't need more than 370 horsepower and 540 lb-ft of torque.

Hello, basically from a mapper's point of view, a stage 1 good tune will give you the most additional power without any tweaks.
However, performance may be improved with better exhaust flow.
not dissimilar to induction
higher performance, the colder and more forceful the air,
in spite of the fact that
Some people, regardless of age or gender, like the louder experience that petrols provide.
With the dpf gone, even diesels sound more refined than they used to (no more "tractor sounds," haha).
If you're after an additional 10 nm and 10 hp, however, you'll still be ahead of the game.

They sound like crap with the dpf taken out and the pipes straightened out, like real chavs, and if they didn't do that, I'd have nothing to make fun of when I saw them.

It everything comes down to personal taste.
I've put in a lot of time and effort, and I also happen to despise popcorn.
but well, at least it gives you a good chuckle
