a 2019 C-Class estate (Premium Plus, post-facelift specification). I have attempted to use Android Auto both via wired and wireless connections, but without success. Mercedes has provided the following information:
The minimum need for the Smartphone Integration service is NTG 6, while your car is equipped with NTG 5.5; thus, it is incompatible with the service. The head unit cannot be upgraded to fulfil the criteria of this digital enhancement, since it pertains to the factory-installed hardware.
Their statement indicates that Android Auto is not an option. However, they will clearly not endorse aftermarket or retrofit alternatives.
What must I purchase or do to enable Android Auto functionality? Which retrofit option is the most feasible?
What purchases are necessary for Android Auto?

Ah...
Command in Lightwater would be the preferred recommendation.
Are they really unable to provide counsel?
It can be programmed and/or triggered, but they are indeed the experts.

MB Tech in Warrington may also be able to assist, depending on your location. My Mercedes-Benz dealer informed me that CarPlay could not be integrated into my W213 equipped with Audio 20. I spoke with MB Tech, and they coordinated with MB in Germany to include the function into my VIN card. Subsequently, I visited MB Tech for the installation of the new feature in my vehicle. It cost me £180, and I now own Carplay and Android Auto.

Thank you for the answers, everyone.
Comand UK also contends that integrating Android Auto is a straightforward task. Neither they nor I consider Mercedes' assertion that Android Auto is essentially a non-starter to be totally correct. I am pleased that they have seemingly been disproven.
Regrettably, I am located in Leicester, equidistant between Warrington and Surrey. Is remote activation or coding feasible, and if so, via which provider?

Certain establishments provide coding devices that connect to your OBD port. These are often unreliable, and if the vehicle receives a software update for the audio system, you will likely lose the capability. It is likely advisable to reach out to MB Tech. They should inform me of the other choices, which, in my view, were far less expensive than Comand (Comand charged £499 to activate it in my vehicle).
If MB Tech incorporates it into your VIN card, any MB expert should be capable of updating your system to include the capability.

I recently used GeneNostics, who provided the cords (which I returned) and remotely enabled AA on my E400, which came with Apple CarPlay from the factory.
It took some time, and I gave him remote access to my laptop (which was not a concern for me), but the process was seamless, the fee was rather affordable, and it has functioned well for many months now.
