I visited a mechanic to rectify an air conditioning malfunction after a refill. The technician used a Snap On OBD scanner, which was rather remarkable. He said that it costs around £3000, exceeding my budget.

Additionally, there will be yearly subscription fees to remit.

You must determine the extent of your scanner use and if you will undertake repairs after diagnostic. Topdon and Autel seem to be really effective; I own an Icarsoft MB reader, which is good but not exemplary. According to DSM, be cautious of yearly membership fees in addition to the original cost.

Both iCarsoft and the app-based Carly serve as effective entry-level solutions, but Carly necessitates a membership.

Launch, Snap-on, and Delphi manufacture premium scanners; nevertheless, they are costlier.

Thank you for all the responses. I do not foresee acquiring a snap-on reader; Autel seems to be a commendable option.

I have recently purchased a Topdon device via an Amazon Prime promotion. We will see the outcome. I need a device capable of diagnosing issues across many vehicles, namely my father's BMW and Peugeot.

Autel AP200, priced at £42 on eBay. Optimal do-it-yourself instrument.
