Hello, I am seeking direction and assistance from you esteemed individuals. Neither I nor any member of my family have knowledge about automobiles. I now operate a 2019 Peugeot 3008 diesel, however I am experiencing AdBlue and DPF complications, and while researching, I discovered that Peugeot is reputed for such troubles. I want to replace my vehicle promptly to avoid incurring further expenses, thus I am considering the Sportage. I test drove a 2022 GT Line S yesterday and was enamoured with it; it is exquisite to drive and has a high specification. Having determined that this is likely the vehicle I want, I have identified two options, both from the same year and differing by just £50 in price. One is a 1.6 T-GDi MHEV GT-Line S DCT AWD Euro 6, while the other is a 1.6 h T-GDi GT-Line S Auto Euro 6 (s/s) 5-door. After experiencing difficulties with the AdBlue issue, I conducted an online search for any known problems and discovered the scenario about the PPF. I mostly drive small distances, but I do at least one 100-mile round trip on the freeway each week. I have developed a strong affection for the automobile; but, I need a paternal or maternal figure to provide an honest assessment of its potential issues. Should I consider abandoning this option in favour of another vehicle, or is it plausible that similar concerns may arise with any modern petrol car? I have seen discussions on the problem in both the HEV and MHEV versions of the vehicle, leaving me uncertain whether one is more susceptible to it than the other. I am rather perplexed. Additionally, I must express my profound admiration for the automobile. 😃

Indeed, the Sportage is an excellent vehicle; we are on our third and are enamoured with our HEV.
The mild hybrid does have troubles with the PPF, which are extensively documented on these pages; however, it seems to have diminished in recent months. I am uncertain if this is due to Kia having discovered a solution or whether members have identified methods to mitigate PPF concerns.
Concerning the purported PPF on the HEV, it is an uncommon occurrence; I assume that driving behaviour significantly contributes to this issue. My vehicle is 1.5 years old, and I have had no troubles despite a combination of short and long-distance driving. In suburban or town driving, my vehicle mostly operates in electric mode, with the engine activating only when more throttle is required or the battery charge diminishes. At greater distances, the vehicle will use the engine more extensively, however it will still activate EV mode, even at highway speeds.

To my knowledge, I have not seen any accounts of a PHEV possessing a PPF; this does not imply it has not occurred, but it must be quite unusual.
The Sportage is an excellent vehicle that fulfils all my requirements effortlessly.

I have had my HEV since its purchase for about two years. I mostly do brief local trips, with infrequent larger highway excursions, accumulating around 8,000 miles during this period. I have never encountered this issue.

It is crucial to note that the HEV and petrol (non-MHEV) models accommodate just a spare wheel, which may or may not be significant to you. Ensure you obtain a comprehensive service history (book stamped in accordance with terms and conditions) to benefit from the 7-year warranty. This is my third Sportage. In my previous petrol model, equipped with a PPF, I completed 8,000 miles without any filter problems, mostly consisting of short trips. However, I modified my driving behaviour to allow the filter to self-clean well. I achieved an overall fuel efficiency of 40 miles per gallon with the petrol manual transmission. Local fuel efficiency in the low 30s; motorway efficiency above 40 mpg. On my current vehicle, I am achieving an overall fuel efficiency of 50 miles per gallon over a period of three months. The right foot significantly impacts fuel consumption.

I transitioned from a Peugeot 3008 GT-Line diesel, which I really appreciated and had no DPF/AdBlue issues, to a Kia Sportage HEV GT-Line S. The Peugeot was a formidable benchmark, although I have a profound affection for the Sportage. I do several short trips; there are no concerns with PPF whatsoever.
