There is a beeping sound when the r8 is not moving.

A place for open-ended discussion on any car-related topic.

Greetings, I now own a 2010 v10 R8 automobile located in the United Kingdom.
Occasionally, I use a trickle charger to replenish the car battery when it becomes depleted.
Lately, the automobile emits a beeping sound for around 10 or 20 seconds. This sound is not similar to a genuine alarm's blaring or shrieking, but rather a digital-sounding beep. Additionally, it seems that the indicators flash during this time. The occurrence is sporadic, taking place while the automobile is stationary, often during the late hours of the night, emitting a sound of sufficient volume to rouse me from sleep.
I first hypothesised that the battery drainage would be the cause, however I have seen that the issue occurs even when the battery is fully charged or being charged.

It seems to be a subtle cautionary message 🤔

The occurrence ceases after a duration of 10 or 20 seconds, and may resume either a few minutes or a few hours thereafter.
Additionally, the beeping ceases if I use the keyfob to unlock the vehicle and then lock it again.
Do you have any insights on the underlying causes of this phenomenon?
Thank you.

It seems that your battery may be deteriorating. These vehicles exhibit several peculiar behaviours while the battery is deteriorating.

I concur - I believe it is maybe the appropriate moment to get a fresh battery.

Does the car's electrical system consist of original components, or are there any aftermarket gadgets installed? If there are any aftermarket devices present, particularly if you did not install them, it might be prudent to investigate them to ensure the absence of any parasitic drain.

There is an additional issue: the device is emitting a beeping sound every 5 minutes, and I am unable to stop it until I press the keyfob. My neighbours will be irritated throughout the night. Do you have any suggestions on how to prevent this?

Did you successfully conduct a test on it? If you own a CTEK or a comparable maintainer, I would suggest connecting it to a charger temporarily to assess the battery's condition as indicated by its readings. In the worst-case scenario, it may also cease the auditory signal. Aside from that, I agree with trev's suggestion to unplug it.

Perhaps disengage the batteries, but refraining from entirely securing the front trunk lid.

There is a possibility that you may be fortunate enough to discover that you are able to remove a fuse. In American automobiles, the panel is located at the forefront of the passenger's foot well. I presume that you serve as a reflection of our organisation for the purpose of determining appropriate positioning.

If anybody is interested, I have received an update about this matter. The VAGCOM error code that is being shown is 01134 - Alarm Horn (H12).
Based on my online research, it seems that the alarm horn's battery may need to be changed, which might be challenging for the R8 model.
I was contemplating the idea of temporarily extracting the corresponding fuse, however I can only identify one fuse (E7) that seems to be associated with the horn - Does anybody know which fuse is responsible for deactivating the "alarm horn"? Or is it the same fuse as the regular "horn"?
Perhaps the problem will persist even if the fuse (if present) is removed?

Greetings- I am seeing significant depletion of the primary battery and I assume that the cause may be the alarm horn or the battery associated with it. Have you replaced the horn unit and has it successfully resolved the H12 problem? Thank you in advance for any information.
